I’ve been to plenty of beautiful weddings – beautiful couple, beautiful decorations, beautiful this, that, and everything else.
However, I have been
not so patiently waiting to shoot a wedding on a beautiful DAY. It’s been cold, windy, rainy, snowy and every other form of weather the meteorologists have in their book. (I don’t mean to complain. Each of these weddings have been beautiful – and enjoyable! – in their own way, despite the weather.)
But. . . we made history on May 18th and I FINALLY get to say that I shot a wedding on a BEAUTIFUL DAY! (And not only was a nice for outdoor pictures, but for mowing the lawn as well. . . but if that’s the worst we get, I’ll take it! Thankfully the sweet old man who graciously allowed us to use his farm for pictures kept his distance. . . most of the time. ;)
This really was a day of firsts for me… first wedding shot in the church where Kurt and I are members, first time I had my sister-in-law Laurie as a 2nd shooter (and she did great!), first Saturday wedding (really! I know it’s uncommon, but good ol’ Friday nights seem to be the trend in Iowa, where most of my weddings have taken place), first time my gear (along with all the ladies’ dresses and accessories) got locked in a room with no key to be found (thankfully one WAS found after only a few short moments of panic – ha!), and first time we were running behind schedule. (Not to worry, we kicked it into high gear and finished on time!) Phew! That’s a lot of firsts.
Did I mention it was a beautiful day?!
Sarah’s beautiful accessories.
Sarah’s bouquet held a few pieces of her mom’s jewlery, as a beautiful memorial to her who was deeply missed.
Can you tell he’s excited? ;)
I LOVED their First Look!
I was ESPECIALLY thankful for Laurie at this part of the day! She knew we were crunched for time and really delivered with some beautiful images I never could have gotten.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. . . 2nd shooters are. the. best. And I think this wedding party agrees, wouldn’t you say? ;)
This flower girl and ring bearer were adorable. Melted my heart, they did. :)
So I usually don’t blog family pictures, but couldn’t resist this one. . . ! I’m told this is REALLY them anyway. :)
Mark’s smile seriously lit up that church as he watched Sarah came down the aisle.
Sarah’s dad officiated the wedding and gave her away. Really special moment.
Time to celebrate!
Man, this little guy is a sweetie. . . :)
I’ll end with this beaaaautiful shot of these two happy newlyweds… one of my favorites!
OK. . . contest time. Prize to the first one who guesses how many times I used the word “beautiful” in this post. (NO scrolling up and re-reading, thankyouverymuch!) Post your guesses in the comment box below! :)
